While chatting up the Pin-Up girl contestants, relive that famous dance contest scene from “Grease” while rocking out to rockabilly sounds of The Wild Woodys and Pearls Mahone & the One-Eyed Jacks! Since November 1984, The Wild Woodys have been playing their own brand of Rockabilly music, - jumpin', swingin' and the bop that just won't stop - to appreciative audiences and loyal fans at clubs, festivals, and concerts for young and old alike. If you haven't heard them it is time that you did! Out of Plainwell, MI, band members include: Scotty Spears, vocals and guitars- Phil Glennie, vocals and upright bass - Johnny Apollo, drums and shouts. Hailing from Chicago, Pearls Mahone & The One-Eyed Jacks combine strong heart wrenching vocals, rockin guitar riffs, a sexy bass line and a rhythm that just won't quit. Embracing a passion for rockabilly music, ratrods, rhythm & blues and country their music tells tales of love, hardship, and vice. A flame-haired, green-eyed hard rockin diva, Pearls Mahone sings songs laced with pearls of wisdom, from an exciting life filled with love and loss. Her background of singing started in the church, but soon she was lured into the dazzling world of subcultural music. This croonin' dame matured from gospel to blues, early rhythm and blues, soul and reggae, and finally rockabilly and country! Both bands can be enjoyed free of charge at the Foremost Insurance 28th Street Metro Cruise Sock Hop on Friday, August 26, from 6 to 9 pm in the former Klingman’s lot, across from Rogers Plaza. Best parking will be available at the former Studio 28 parking lot.
