Cruisin’ 28th In Style on August 23 & 24, 2013
The Wyoming Kentwood Area Chamber of Commerce has begun planning of the 9th Annual 28th Street Metro Cruise® to be held Friday, August 23, 2013, and Saturday, August 24, 2013, along 15 miles of 28th Street. This annual celebration of classic cars attracts car lovers from all over the United States along with thousands of unique vehicles.
The Metro Cruise® has grown through the years to become one of the premiere car events in West Michigan, attracting over 200,000 visitors and over 15,000 vehicles. There has been momentum within the 28th Street merchants’ community to increase event participation.
Last year, WKTV introduced “Metro Cruise® Live” to cruise goers. This year, in conjunction with WKTV, the red carpet “Oscar Event for Automobiles” is being expanded from one to two nights of live-televised, rarely seen autos - from hot rods and muscle cars to high-end luxury classic autos. “Metro Cruise® Live” is the only live-televised show of its kind in the nation.
Plans for expanding the fan-favorite “Pinup Girl Contest” are also in the works. Other planned activities include a Sock Hop with live music, the annual Swap Meet, a DJ on premise with giveaways, food vendors, Metro Cruise® merchandise, and sponsor displays. More events to come – check our website for the latest schedule.
Being the classic car attraction in Western Michigan, the 28th Street Metro Cruise® generates a welcomed injection of tourist dollars into our community and represents a huge marketing / promotional opportunity for local and regional businesses. Sponsorships are still available. All inquiries should be directed to Gregg Howard, Cruise Director at 616-719-6494 or ghmetro@gmail.com.
